Hilux & Fortuner stuck

The popularity of SUVs has gone up in India in the last couple of decades. While we have several SUVs on sale in India, only a small portion of these are 4x4s. Not all owners of these 4×4 SUVs often explore the off-road capabilities of their vehicle. There is a misconception among many SUV owners that 4×4 SUVs can go through almost anywhere without getting stuck. This is not true, and here we have a video that proves just that. A Toyota Fortuner and a Hilux that went too far while off-roading got stuck and had to be rescued using a JCB.

The video has been shared by Sodhi RRP Vlogs on their YouTube channel. In this video, we see two SUVs, a Toyota Hilux and a Fortuner, royally stuck on a riverbed. It looks like the drivers of both the SUVs were exploring the off-road trail and drove the SUVs too far. It is also possible that they were not too experienced off-roaders, which got them into this situation. When the video starts, both these SUVs are stuck deep in the slush.

All four wheels of both the SUVs are stuck, and they were digging deep into the slush. While driving on riverbeds, one has to be extremely careful as you never know which section is too deep and which one is shallow. In order to avoid getting into such situations, one must always check the depth of these sections using a stick or walk through the obstacle before driving into it. In this case, the surface was sandy, and the sand mixed with water completely changed the way it behaves. The sand acts like sticky mud, and if you don’t drive through such sections with enough momentum, the SUV would simply get stuck.

Hilux & Fortuner stuck

That is what happened in this case. Both Hilux and Fortuner are capable off-roaders; however, if you don’t know the technique to drive these vehicles off-road, it is really easy to get stuck. The drivers of these SUVs had to get help from a JCB. A recovery rope was attached to the front hook of the vehicle, and the JCB driver slowly pulled the SUVs out. Hilux was the first to get out of the slush. Next was the Fortuner. It looked like the Fortuner was in a worse situation than the Hilux. The JCB driver had to scoop out a couple of buckets of mud to even access the front tow hook.

There were people around the car who were removing the sand around the wheels in order to free it up. The JCB driver once again used the scoop on his vehicle to pull the tow rope and slowly pulled the Fortuner out. After getting the SUVs out, the vlogger and his friends drove the car back and quickly rinsed the underbody to remove all the mud and water. In this case, it looks like the drivers were actually inexperienced, and both the SUVs were running on HT tires, which are not at all suitable for off-roading. At least you should have AT tires if you really want to take your car off-road.
