There have only been four Toyota Tacoma generations since the first one in 1994 due to fairly long product cycles. The first-generation Toyota Tacoma ran for 10 model years (1995-2004) through two facelifts, with four- and six-cylinder engines, and three body styles. The second generation expanded in size, power outputs, and trim configurations, and was the first Tacoma to introduce the 4.0L GR V6 gas engine. Many updates were applied to it, with the last facelift ending the run for the 2012-2015 model years before the redesign of the Toyota Tacoma for 2016 made landfall with styling similar to the 4Runner and Tundra. This generation persisted until 2022, with a brand-new 2024 Tacoma debuting in 2023, finally dropping the naturally aspirated engines in exchange for a turbocharged four-pot, with or without, hybridization.
2024-Now Toyota Tacoma 4th Gen
The brand-new 2024 Tacoma comes with arresting looks and a new turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder with 228 hp in base form and up to 326 hp with hybridization.

The second of the Tacoma’s generations was available with 2.7L four-cylinder and 4.0L V6 naturally aspirated gas engines. The 2009 facelift brought cosmetic and equipment changes, but the oily bits stayed as is.
