However, other features coming in the unnamed Ineos EV off-roader could offset the range. Calder revealed the model will “be near-unstoppable off-road.” The report said the model will be developed for workhorse duties and offer off-road durability “not yet seen in the emerging EV segment.”
The electrified powertrain will be on a dedicated EV platform, with reports suggesting that Canadian auto parts supplier Magna International’s FM29 platform (which underpins the Fisker Ocean) will be the go-to. This was a co-developed platform between Fisker and Magna, so it likely won’t be used verbatim as much of the tech came from Fisker, but an adaptation of the basic architecture is a very real possibility.
Should it use this architecture, it would reaffirm previous reports that the new electric off-roader would adopt a skateboard-style chassis.
