Skoda’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV, Kylaq, has been in the news for quite some time. The SUV will be officially launched in the market soon, and it will also be the most affordable Skoda in India. We have spotted the Skoda Kylaq on Indian roads with heavy camouflage several times. We all know that the Kylaq is a “made in India, made for India” SUV, and the brand ensured that even the camouflage on the vehicle made that evident. Here we have a video that shares the story behind the camouflage of the Skoda Kylaq.

The video has been shared by Skoda India on their Instagram page. In this video, we see Harun Robert, a.k.a Rob, a popular artist who has been part of several television shows. After announcing the official name of their upcoming SUV Kylaq, Skoda India got in touch with the reputed artist for designing the camouflage.
Rob, in this video, explains how he worked on this project and the hurdles he faced during the process. Just like any project, Rob started by having an extensive conversation with Skoda India. This helped him understand what the brand was looking for, and then they started work.
He found his inspiration from Indian scripts. We all know that India is a country with a lot of diversity. There are a variety of scripts across our country, and that makes things interesting. The different scripts highlight the beauty of the individual languages in India. By incorporating all these different scripts into a single camouflage, the artist aimed to showcase the unity in diversity of the country.
In the video, we see the variety of scripts printed in green ink on the black wrap. We also see Skoda branding on the camouflage along with different Indian languages.
Skoda Kylaq
It is one of the most awaited products from Skoda. The official launch of the SUV is expected to happen sometime in early 2025. What makes the Kylaq special is that it is a made-in-India SUV. The manufacturer has opted for heavy localization to keep the cost of the vehicle in check. We all know that the sub-4 meter SUV segment is highly competitive, and Skoda will have to price their product aggressively to carve out a space.
The exterior design of the SUV is heavily inspired by other Skoda products. In fact, the SUV looks like a smaller version of their mid-size SUV, the Kushaq. The SUV will feature Skoda’s signature butterfly grille, which extends to meet the LED DRLs, while the headlamps will be placed on the bumper.
The SUV is based on the MQB A0 IN platform. The interior of the Kylaq is expected to be similar to other Skoda products. The SUV will offer features like a touchscreen infotainment system, fabric seats/leatherette seats, seat ventilation feature, automatic climate control, electric sunroof, and more.
Skoda will offer the upcoming Kylaq with a petrol engine only. The SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be offered with both manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.
