US Return Of World Rally Championship In 2026 Would Be Good For America And WRC

It seems that organizers are not targeting a quick cash grab, with WRC event director Simon Larkin confirming that there is absolutely no chance of the US being ready for a rally next year because things will be done right.

“When we go to the US, we want to do more than just go there and do a rally. We want to have an event that’s going to have an impact,” said Larkin, “because it’s a market that is important, but we don’t just want to go there and make up the numbers.”

Obstacles still remain, like “a few funding pieces” and insurance coverage, but those are at the top of the priority list. Happily, as a new event, it would not be limited by historic layouts, meaning that the event can be custom-built to suit the demands of underwriters.

Since the rally would likely be held in a forest, other considerations like spectator access will have to be made, too, but in a nutshell, WRC’s American return has never looked his promising.
