However, real automotive enthusiasts know that these are rebadged Mercedes S-Class models and the real Maybachs were the 57 and 62. These models were discontinued back in 2013, and recently a Maybach 62 has come up for sale. Interestingly, this unique Maybach used to belong to the fugitive business tycoon Vijay Mallya. This particular Maybach 62, which was once owned by Vijay Mallya, the owner of Kingfisher Airlines, is being offered for purchase by Big Boy Toyz. The premium used car dealership is asking Rs 2.49 crore for this ultra-luxurious sedan. This particular car is a 2009 model year car. Apart from Vijay Mallya, there were only a few people in India back in the day who bought this sedan.
Details of Vijay Mallya’s Maybach 62
Apart from the model year, Big Boy Toyz has shared a number of details about this luxury sedan. It has mentioned that this car is registered in Pondicherry and gets a VIP registration number of “9999.” Also, this car was optioned by Vijay Mallya in the unique black and gold dual-tone shade.
The entire body of this car is finished in black; however, the side panels of this car get the signature Maybach dual-tone scheme with a unique dark golden hue. It also gets chrome stripes across the body on top and below this golden stripe.
Big Boy Toyz has also mentioned that this particular car was manufactured in 2004 and it was registered in 2009. Additionally, this Maybach 62 has done only 33,971 km in total. Apart from these details, it has been mentioned that it is powered by a 5.5-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine.
This engine makes 543 bhp and an impressive 900 Nm of torque. As for the transmission, it gets a 5-speed automatic transmission and all the power is sent to the rear wheels.
Vijay Mallya’s Maybach 62 Walkaround
This particular Vijay Mallya’s Maybach 62 walkaround has also been shared online. It was shared back in 2019 when this car was seen at the Mercedes Benz Classic Car Rally that took place in Mumbai. The vlogger, after showing some classic cars, showed this Maybach that was parked front and center.
It was parked right behind the country’s only Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing. The presenter meets up with his friend and then they talk about this car. They show the exterior of this car and then open the rear door of this car to reveal its ultra-luxurious interior.
For those who may not know, the Maybach 62 is named the 62 because of the length of this sedan. It measures a massive 6.2 meters in length and all that space is seen in the rear of this car. The vlogger shows the rear captain seats which can be fully reclined and offer ventilation and massaging features.
The car also gets a massive sky roof which can be turned transparent or opaque with the click of a button. This roof is called the Skyroof and it was one of the biggest highlights of this Maybach 62. The sedan also came equipped with a partition between the driver and the passenger cabin which can also be put up or down and turned opaque when needed.
