Meanwhile, the GMC Hummer EV is more powerful than the Cybertruck with three motors producing over 1,000 hp. But that power advantage didn’t help the GMC against the Tesla, finishing even slower than the Rivian R1T at 11.9 seconds at 106 mph.
This wasn’t a surprise, considering that the 9,000-lb Hummer EV was substantially heavier than the 6,843-lb Cybertruck. You can blame the Hummer EV’s battery for that, with the massive 212-kWh battery pack weighing 2,818 lbs, or about 400 lbs heavier than a Mazda Miata MX-5.
Despite not meeting all expectations, the Cybertruck shapes up to be a top contender in its segment. Let’s hope it continues to perform well, for the sake of the millions of reservations it has already amassed.
