In a video uploaded on Drift King Television’s YouTube channel, Tsuchiya and Spoon Sports’ Daisuke Jomoto talked about the modifications applied to the red-badged Honda Civic Hatchback. These included the use of a helical differential, an adjustable rear wing, and coilovers on all four corners.
To test the upgrades and get the proper settings that would improve the FL5-generation Civic Type R’s track performance, Tsuchiya – who called muscle cars dangerous before – pushed the hot hatch to its limits during the track runs, focusing on grip and handling. After every run, adjustments were made to the car’s suspension and rear wing, producing varying results. Finally, after several tries, the Spoon mechanics and DK came up with the best setting for optimum track performance.
