We’re Driving The 2025 Genesis G80, What Do You Want To Know About It?

  • The Genesis G80 luxury sedan is getting a facelift for 2025 with prices starting under $58,000.
  • Genesis wants to disrupt luxury norms with the G80’s advanced tech and competitive pricing.
  • The refreshed G80 promises to offer luxury and performance typically seen in six-figure vehicles.

Genesis continues to aim for whales with its value-oriented offerings like the G70, G80, and G90. For 2025, it’s updating the G80 with a bunch of new tech, some new design elements, and a relatively low starting price. We’re about to drive the wheels off of one. What do you want to know about it?

Genesis invited Carscoops out to Lexington, Kentucky to drive this new luxury vehicle. It sounds as though the weather is going to be nice and the car might be nicer. Honestly, based on the information we have now, the question is whether or not driving the car is better than being a back-seat passenger.

Review: 2024 Genesis G70 Turbo V6 Is Better Than Ever

This car is available with not one but two widescreen monitors in the second row. Buyers can add heated, ventilated, and power-adjustable rear seats. Even the center console armrest up front is heated. A fingerprint authentication system tailors the driving experience to each person who uses the car regularly. In short, it’s full of tech that typically comes on a car that’ll cost you six figures.

Instead, it starts at $57,100 albeit without some of the flashier options listed above. That price positions the Genesis G80 as a high-value proposition. At the same time, there’s no getting around the fact that without a badge from one of the big three German luxury brands, some people will skip over it anyway. Is it good enough to rival or beat out competition from Lexus and Acura, or even challenge the Germans? We’ll find out.

One thing that’s not up for debate is the luxury-focused drivetrain. Lexus and Acura often leverage front-wheel drive vehicles. Genesis still sticks with rear-wheel drive or, in the case of the G80, rear-wheel-drive-biased AWD systems. The base G80 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 300 horsepower (223 kW) and there’s also a V6 with 375 horsepower (280 kW).

During our testing of the G80, what should we find out for you? Are you concerned about interior sound levels, tech, luxury, cargo space, or something else? Let us know in the comments below!
