Last month at the world’s biggest auto show in Shanghai, Xpeng unveiled the newer, sleeker G6 electric SUV.
Now, according to a report by cnevpost, it appears that the first unit has already been produced ready for customer deliveries this quarter.
An image of the first G6 off the production line shows an orange mid-sized SUV. It is the same colour as the car revealed to the world at the Shanghai auto show last month.
The new G6 has various new production method innovations for Xpeng including a die-casted front and rear integrated aluminium body as well as the packaging of the battery.
The battery pack is attached to the vehicle using a cell-integrated body technology which helps with better space management inside the cabin of the car.
Xpeng is an EV-only brand in China and in recent years has launched its popular EVs in European markets.
Given the Xpeng G6 is a new mass-produced model, it is bound to be heading to multiple markets. This means that it’s very likely to head to Europe and other markets as well.
The G6 SUV is the first model from the brand to be based on its latest 800 Volts EV architecture. This means that is can add up to 300 km of range in around 10 minutes at the right charger. This is one of the key selling points for this car that’s designed to look quick and charge even quicker.
The single-motor models of the Xpeng G6 will deliver up to 218 kW of power. Meanwhile, the dual-motor high-performance variant can deliver up to 368 kW. It will be fed by CALB batteries that are also produced in-house at Xpeng’s factory.
The pricing of the new G6 is expected to start at $A43,450 and go all the way up to $A65,170. Deliveries are expected to start before the end of June.
